Prepare
We assess skin type, pigment risk, infection and cold-sore history, scar pattern, medicines, sun exposure and healing capacity. Pre-treatment skincare or antiviral medication may be required.
Treat
Protective eyewear is used and the laser creates a planned pattern of microscopic treatment zones. Depth, energy, density and passes are chosen for the concern and acceptable recovery.
Heal
Redness, swelling, warmth and a grid-like pattern are expected. Ablative treatment requires careful wound care, no picking and strict sun protection until the skin has recovered.

What does fractional mean?
Fractional delivery treats a percentage of skin in separated microscopic zones, leaving surrounding tissue between them. It describes the delivery pattern, not one specific wavelength or device.
Is fractional laser always CO₂?
No. Fractional technology can be ablative or non-ablative and use different wavelengths. At ABI, the plan may involve AcuPulse CO₂ or Enlighten Pico Genesis FX depending on the concern and skin.
How much downtime will I have?
Downtime depends on the device, depth, density, passes and area. Light non-ablative treatment may settle quickly; ablative fractional CO₂ can involve about a week or longer of visible healing.
How many sessions are required?
A single stronger session may be chosen for some concerns, while gentler fractional plans are usually repeated. Scar depth, skin response and acceptable downtime determine the schedule.
When do results appear?
Surface change becomes visible after healing, while collagen remodelling continues for months. Standardised photography is more reliable than judging the skin immediately after treatment.
Who may not be suitable?
Active infection, open wounds, significant tan, certain medicines, impaired healing, uncontrolled medical conditions, pregnancy-related restrictions and high pigment or scar risk can postpone or rule out treatment.
