As you may remember, our lovely client Patricia has embarked on a 12 week Total Skin Transformation programme with us here at Advanced Body Image & Spa Lotus Darwin. The first week saw Patricia undergo a paramedical skin peel for her face, neck and chest and also some CoolSculpting to permanently remove the submental pocket under her chin.

In week 2, Patricia came in for three ReGen LED light therapy treatments, to rejuvenate and heal her skin whilst promoting healthy cell renewal and optimal collagen production.

During ReGen LED Light Therapy treatment.

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which emits therapeutic wavelengths (or colours) of light energy.

Not to be confused with laser, this popular form of light therapy was designed to fast-track wound healing and post surgery scars by rapidly increasing the production of fibroblast cells (the cells responsible for collagen production).  The result is the skin is plumped up with new collagen (which pushes the creases of the wrinkles out) and new elastin (which assists in tightening the skin to give it more elasticity).

This is a painless treatment whereby a large panel of LED lights are placed over the skin and set to a particular wavelength. The light is emitted for 20 minutes and actually quite relaxing!

Prior to Patricia’s ReGen LED light therapy , she had our signature skin treatment, DMK’s Enzyme Therapy Facial. Enzyme therapy is known to restore skin to its peak condition. DMK uses freeze dried enzymes (living substances that work together to regulate cell health and combine with minerals in the body to form a natural system of antioxidants that fight free radicals.) Rather than working on top of the skin, these enzymes work within the skin. Particular enzymes aim to strengthen the structural integrity of the skin and create a healthy environment for cells to live and thrive in.

Plasmatic effect after DMK Enzyme Therapy

The treatment works using reverse osmosis, removing dead protein and toxins from the epidermis and promoting freshly oxygenated blood into the area. This often results in a visual ‘plasmatic effect‘ whereby the capillary network of the face neck and chest are visible due to increased oxygenated blood flow.

Enzyme Therapy treatments can be performed as frequently as weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

In week 3 we performed VPL on Patricia’s face, neck and chest. VPL stands for Variable Pulsed Light, which utilises safe and effective technology to help remove and improve the visible effects that age, hormonal activity and over-exposure to the sun can have on the skin. This treatment uses short, safe, controlled pulses of filtered light to assist in the removal of skin imperfections, and to improve texture and tone. This treatment usually takes around 30-45 minutes. Post treatment affects for Patricia may include some temporary heat and redness, which subsides within an hour or two. Then depending on the amount of sun damage or pigmentation to the area of treatment, Patricia will experience some darkened ‘crusting’ on the skins surface. This usually takes about a week to naturally lift away. To assist in this process, we performed an enzyme ‘lift-off’ treatment on day 7.
